School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT)

Peninsula SCITT is a School Centred Initial Teacher Training programme based out of Penrice Academy in St Austell.

  • A one year school based teacher training programme for graduates
  • Delivered by experienced, current teachers and senior leaders
  • Led from a training centre located within the Outstanding Penrice Academy in St Austell
  • Placements across Cornwall through our large network of partner schools
  • Working in partnership with Plymouth University to enable trainees to gain their PGCE as well as QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) through face to face training and tutorials

“Immersing yourself in the school environment from day one gives you a realistic insight into the world of teaching”    Claire, former English trainee

We are currently training a Secondary cohort to work with students aged 11-19 in the following subjects; Art & Design, Biology, Chemistry, Drama, English, Geography, History, Mathematics, PE & Physics

This 2017-18 cohort will be the last to train through Peninsula SCITT as the provision will close at the end of this academic year.

Whilst Peninsula SCITT are sorry not to be able to offer ITT moving forward we do want to continue to support potential future teachers into the profession and to help those looking to train to teach in any way we can.
